Here at Forward Merch we have been working more with the sublimated garments and the sublimation process. Now you may be asking yourself “What is sublimation? And how is it applied to garments?”
Sublimation is a process that uses heat sensitive dyes to print graphics and essentially any image onto transfer paper. From there it is placed on your pre-cut fabric pattern and placed into a heat press. When the cycle is finished the design has fused with the fabric. Dye Sublimation can only be used on polyester, polymer or polymer coated item. This is because natural fibers such as 100% cotton have no pores to open and cannot accept the dye in order to fuse properly. When the process is finished your garment will be more breathable and sometimes even softer to the feel than before the process is started.
We’ve used this process on quite a few items such as leggings, hats, and All over print T-Shirts. However you can use the Sublimation Process on just about anything so long as it uses polyester of polymer based material.
When the process is finished your garment will be more breathable and sometimes even softer to the feel than before the process is started. We are looking forward to working more with this process and know you are too!
